Bill Skarsgård Is the Face of Hideo Kojima’s PHYSINT
Hideo Kojima has finally revealed the lead actor for his mysterious action-espionage game PHYSINT — and it’s IT star Bill Skarsgård.
The long-awaited project has taken another major step forward with Kojima Productions confirming that Bill Skarsgård will portray PHYSINT’s main character. The announcement was accompanied by a new promotional image featuring Skarsgård alongside previously announced cast member Charlee Fraser.

Kojima confirmed that the team has already carried out costume fittings, 3D scans and camera tests with Skarsgård and Fraser earlier this year. According to Kojima, the work gave him greater confidence in the creative direction of the project.
Bill Skarsgård Steps Into Kojima’s World
Skarsgård is particularly recognizable for his work in the IT franchise, where he portrayed Pennywise, as well as his appearance as the Marquis de Gramont in John Wick: Chapter 4. His addition to PHYSINT gives Kojima’s next-generation espionage game another major Hollywood name at the center of its cast.
However, Kojima has not revealed the character’s name or provided a detailed description of the protagonist yet.
That mystery is very much in keeping with how PHYSINT has been presented since its original announcement.
What Is PHYSINT?
PHYSINT is Kojima Productions’ upcoming action-espionage title, marking Hideo Kojima’s return to the genre that defined much of his career during his time working on Metal Gear.
The project was originally announced in January 2024 as a collaboration with Sony. Kojima described it as a next-generation action-espionage game intended to blur the boundaries between a video game and a movie.
The cast previously included Charlee Fraser, Don Lee (Ma Dong-seok) and Minami Hamabe, all of whom were announced in 2025.
Now, with Skarsgård taking the lead role, PHYSINT’s central cast is beginning to take shape.
PHYSINT Has a New Publisher
There is another major development surrounding the game.
Earlier this month, Xbox became the new publishing partner for PHYSINT after Sony Interactive Entertainment stepped away from the project. Kojima Productions and Xbox confirmed that development would continue under their expanded partnership.
Kojima said that PHYSINT remains an important project for both himself and Kojima Productions and that the studio spent the months following Sony’s decision looking for a new partner.
Xbox is already working with Kojima Productions on OD, and the expanded partnership will also include collaboration across film and television.
A New Era for Kojima’s Espionage Games
PHYSINT is still surrounded by plenty of unanswered questions.
There is currently no announced release date, and its platforms have not been officially revealed following the change in publishing arrangements.
Kojima has nevertheless confirmed that development is progressing, while the reveal of Skarsgård suggests that the project is moving further into its production process.
The combination of Kojima’s cinematic approach and a cast featuring Skarsgård, Fraser, Don Lee and Hamabe makes PHYSINT one of the more intriguing upcoming projects from Kojima Productions.
And considering Kojima’s history with espionage games, fans will undoubtedly be watching closely for the next major reveal.
Geeksterr Take
PHYSINT has been one of those games where the mystery surrounding the project is almost as interesting as the game itself. Now that Bill Skarsgård has been officially revealed as the protagonist, Kojima Productions has finally given fans a much clearer idea of who will be at the center of this new espionage story.
The bigger questions remain: What is Skarsgård’s character’s name? What exactly is PHYSINT’s story? And how will Kojima push the boundary between a game and a movie this time?
For now, those answers remain locked away — but with development continuing under Xbox, PHYSINT is very much alive and moving forward.
