WWE SmackDown Results and Highlights (3/07/26) Cody Wins No. 1 Contender and more
The 3rd July episode of SmackDown was held in Atlantic City, New Jersey with amazing matches, building up feuds for SummerSlam and two of the matches being declared for Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 18.
Opening Segment – Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso confront Sami Zayn
The New WWE Undisputed Champion Sami Zayn opens up the show but he got mixed reactions from the crowd. He fired back at the fans who were booking him. After that, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso came out to confront Sami to get a shot at WWE Undisputed Title. Listening to this, Adam Pierce came out and declared a No.1 Contender’s Match for the title at the Main Event later tonight. The winner will face Sami Zayn on Next Week’s episode of RAW.
Jade Cargill, B-Fab & Michin vs Charlotte Flair, Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton
Charlotte, Chelsea and Tiffany an unpredictable alliance in a six- woman tag team match against Jade, B-Fab and Michin. The intense multi woman showdown finished off with Jade hitting Jaded on Chelsea and pinning her for the win.
Rey Fenix vs El Hijo Del Vikingo
The match between Fenix and Vikingo was battled for the AAA Mega Cruiserweight Championship. Rey Fenix squared off against AAA star El Hijo Del Vikingo in a thrilling contest that captivated the crowd from start to finish. At the end, Fenix delivered a Mexican Muscle Buster to Vikingo and retained his title.
Lainey Reid vs Brie Bella
WWE Hall of Famer Brie Bella fought in a singles match against Fatal Influence member Lainey Reid. The shenanigans at ringside where members of Fatal Influence attacked Paige to distract Brie. The match finished off with Lainey Reid picking up the win.
Closing Segment – Cody Rhodes vs Jey Uso
In the main event match Cody Rhodes battled Jey Uso in a No.1 Contender Singles Match for WWE Undisputed Title. The match featured two former allies turned bitter rivals in a highly competitive showdown. Coming off disappointing losses at Night of Champions, both competitors entered the contest determined to rebuild their momentum and reestablish themselves with a statement victory. At the end, Cody Rhodes delivered a thunderous Cross Rhodes on Jey Uso and becomes the No.1 Contender by winning the match. Cody will now face Sami for the WWE Undisputed Title Match at RAW next week.
Other Notable Moments of the show
– Blake Monroe attacked Giulia and Kiana James backstage.
– Danhausen performed another experiment on The Miz and Kit Wilson backstage, but it went awry due to Judgment Day messing with his equipment.
– R-Truth and Damian Priest had a segment backstage with Erik and Ivar. Both teams agreed to a title vs. title match at some point in the future.
– Two matches, Brie Bella & Paige vs Fatal Influence and Danhausen vs JD McDonaugh were finalised for Saturday Night’s Main Event at Madison Square Garden in New York City
