India’s Air Taxi Dream Takes Flight: Sarla Aviation Marks Major eVTOL Milestone

India’s ambition to build a homegrown air-mobility ecosystem has taken another significant step forward, with Sarla Aviation showcasing its electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) technology at the emerging eVTOL Sky Factory in Thimmasamudram, Andhra Pradesh. Sarla Aviation Receives Key Design Approval

One of the biggest developments surrounding the company is Sarla Aviation receiving its Design Organisation Approval (DOA), making it the third eVTOL design organisation in India to achieve the milestone. The approval represents an important step because developing commercial eVTOL aircraft requires extensive design, engineering, certification and safety processes before passenger operations can become a reality.

The company’s progress also reflects a broader push toward developing advanced aviation technology within India instead of relying entirely on foreign manufacturers.
