Spider-Man Clone Saga Live-Action Series Reportedly Nears Green Light at Prime Video
Amazon could be preparing another live-action trip into Sony’s Spider-Man universe — this time with two of Peter Parker’s most complicated clones at the center of the story.
The Spider-Man universe may be heading into one of its strangest corners yet.

According to a new report from Deadline, Amazon Prime Video is nearing a series order for a live-action Spider-Man television series based on Marvel’s Clone Saga, with Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker expected to be the central characters. The project is still at an early stage, meaning Amazon has not officially announced a series order or revealed a release date.
If the project moves forward, it would become another major entry in Sony Pictures Television and Amazon’s ongoing effort to develop live-action stories around characters from Sony’s Spider-Man universe.
A Spider-Man Show Without Peter Parker?
That’s what makes this project particularly interesting.
Rather than focusing on the familiar Peter Parker, the reported series would center on Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker, two characters created as clones of Peter in Marvel Comics.
Ben Reilly eventually became known as the Scarlet Spider, while Kaine represents an earlier and considerably more troubled version of the cloning experiment. Their complicated relationship with Peter — and with each other — provides plenty of material for a television adaptation.
Deadline’s report indicates that the series could make significant changes to the comic-book source material, so fans shouldn’t necessarily expect a direct recreation of the original Clone Saga.
That could actually give the series considerable room to establish its own identity.
Who Is Writing the Series?
The project is reportedly being developed and written by Kelvin Yu, best known for creating American Born Chinese.
Yu’s involvement is one of the more concrete details attached to the project at this stage. However, the series reportedly remains untitled, and Amazon has yet to announce a cast.
There is also no confirmation that Nicolas Cage will return as Ben Reilly.
That distinction is important because Cage recently portrayed a version of Ben Reilly in Spider-Noir. The connection has naturally led to speculation about whether the actor could appear in this new project, but there is currently no confirmed casting announcement linking Cage to the Clone Saga series.
What About Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Noir?
The timing of this report is particularly interesting.
Prime Video canceled Spider-Noir after its first season earlier this month, despite the series receiving 11 Emmy nominations. The show starred Cage as a 1930s-era version of Ben Reilly and was part of Amazon’s partnership with Sony Pictures Television to develop live-action stories featuring characters from Sony’s Spider-Man universe.
Now, just weeks later, Amazon is reportedly considering another Spider-Man-related series.
The two projects aren’t necessarily connected narratively. The reported Clone Saga series would be a different interpretation of Ben Reilly and would also introduce Kaine Parker as a major character.
So, despite the familiar name, fans shouldn’t assume that the new Ben Reilly would simply continue the story from Spider-Noir.
What Could the Clone Saga Story Look Like?
Marvel’s original Clone Saga is famously complicated.
At its core, the story revolves around the discovery that Peter Parker has been cloned, leading to questions over identity, memory, relationships and ultimately which character is the “real” Spider-Man.
For television, that premise could be simplified considerably.
A series could potentially use Ben and Kaine as its central characters while exploring their very different personalities and relationships with the legacy of Peter Parker.
The reported project is also said to involve other clones, which could push the story beyond simply being a two-character superhero drama.
That creates the possibility of a series built around mystery and identity rather than simply another conventional Spider-Man origin story.
MGM+ Could Also Play a Role
The project is reportedly expected to receive a linear debut on MGM+ alongside its Prime Video streaming release.
That would mirror the strategy Amazon used with Spider-Noir, which premiered on MGM+ before becoming available through Prime Video.
However, no premiere date has been announced.
In fact, the project hasn’t even received its final series order yet.
Is the Series Officially Confirmed?
Not quite.
This is the most important part of the story.
The report says Amazon is nearing a series order, rather than announcing that production has officially begun. There is currently no confirmed title, cast, release date or episode count.

Could This Be Amazon’s Next Spider-Man Experiment?
Amazon’s Spider-Man universe strategy has already gone through several changes.
Silk: Spider Society was previously developed but ultimately scrapped, while Spider-Noir became the first released series from Amazon’s partnership with Sony before being canceled after one season.
The Clone Saga project would therefore represent another attempt to build a live-action Spider-Man-adjacent franchise without relying on the traditional Peter Parker formula.
And this time, Amazon would be diving into one of Marvel’s most recognizable — and famously complicated — Spider-Man storylines.
For longtime fans, Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker finally getting a live-action adaptation would be a significant development, particularly if the series uses the Clone Saga as inspiration rather than attempting to reproduce every twist from the comics.
For now, however, the web is still being spun.
Prime Video has not officially announced the series order, casting or release date.
