The awards season conversation around Obsession is officially getting louder.

Focus Features is mounting an ambitious Oscar campaign for Inde Navarrette, with the breakout star being positioned for Best Actress consideration at the upcoming Academy Awards. The move follows the film’s extraordinary theatrical success and the growing attention surrounding Navarrette’s performance as Nikki. Variety reports that Focus Features is planning a broad awards push for Obsession, targeting nearly every major category in which the film is eligible.

Navarrette’s performance has become one of the biggest talking points surrounding the horror hit. Her portrayal of Nikki requires her to move between vulnerability, affection, psychological instability and outright terror, making the role far more demanding than a conventional horror performance.
