Netflix’s Icebreaker Rounds Out Its Cast With Six New Stars
Netflix has expanded the cast of its upcoming Icebreaker series, adding Gabriel Tierney, Auliʻi Cravalho, Peter Berry, Chaneil Kular, Devin Craig and Aidan Shaw alongside leads Daisy Jelley and Connor Simos.
Netflix is getting ready to take audiences onto the ice with its upcoming adaptation of Hannah Grace’s bestselling romance novel Icebreaker, and the series has just revealed a much larger ensemble.
The streaming giant has announced six additional cast members for the college-set hockey romance, joining previously announced leads Daisy Jelley and Connor Simos.
Meet the New Icebreaker Cast
The newly announced actors will play several of the characters surrounding the story’s central couple:
Gabriel Tierney as Aaron
Auliʻi Cravalho as Lola
Peter Berry as Robbie
Chaneil Kular as JJ
Devin Craig as Henry
Aidan Shaw as Russ
Tierney is known for Rivals and Enola Holmes 2, while Cravalho is widely recognized for voicing Moana. Kular previously appeared as Anwar in Sex Education, and Craig has starred in The Sex Lives of College Girls. Shaw is also familiar to audiences from other sports-romance projects.
Daisy Jelley and Connor Simos Lead the Series
At the center of Icebreaker will be Daisy Jelley and Connor Simos.
Jelley plays Anastasia “Stassie” Allen, a highly competitive figure skater pursuing her Olympic ambitions. Simos plays Nate Hawkins, a hockey player determined to take his own career to the professional level.
Their characters are forced into close proximity when circumstances result in their teams having to share an ice rink.
What begins as competition gradually becomes something much more complicated.
Netflix describes the series as a story where Stassie’s drive for Olympic gold collides with Nate’s ambitions of reaching the NHL, creating a relationship where competition and attraction become increasingly difficult to separate.
What Is Netflix’s Icebreaker About?
The series is based on Hannah Grace’s Icebreaker, the first book in her Maple Hills romance series.
The story follows Stassie, a figure skater who is intensely focused on her career, and Nate, the captain of the university hockey team.
When a facilities problem forces the figure skating and hockey teams to share a rink, the two athletes find themselves spending considerably more time together.
Their initial friction eventually develops into a romance that threatens to complicate both of their carefully planned futures.
Netflix’s adaptation is being developed as a college romance drama with sports and enemies-to-lovers elements.
A Major BookTok Adaptation
Icebreaker became a major success after its publication, developing a huge online readership and becoming particularly popular on BookTok.
According to Netflix, the novel spent 70 consecutive weeks on The New York Times bestseller list and has sold nearly 5 million copies worldwide. It has also been translated into 24 languages and released across 34 territories.
That popularity gives the Netflix adaptation an established audience before the series even arrives on the platform.
Who Is Making Icebreaker?
The series is being developed by Jade Halley Bartlett, with Amanda Lasher serving as showrunner, writer and executive producer.
Lasher’s previous credits include Gossip Girl and Togetherness, while Bartlett has worked on projects including Road House, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Miller’s Girl.
The series is also being produced through Unwell Productions, with Alex Cooper, Matt Kaplan and Mina Lefevre among the executive producers.
When Will Icebreaker Release on Netflix?
Netflix has not announced an official premiere date yet.
Production is scheduled to begin in Vancouver in late 2026, with filming expected to continue into 2027.
That means fans will have to wait for Netflix to reveal when the completed series will make its streaming debut.
For now, the streamer has assembled its principal ensemble and confirmed the two characters at the heart of the story.
With Daisy Jelley, Connor Simos, Gabriel Tierney, Auliʻi Cravalho, Peter Berry, Chaneil Kular, Devin Craig and Aidan Shaw now attached, Icebreaker is beginning to take shape as Netflix’s latest major romance adaptation.
