Sasha Calle Joins Jamie Foxx in Amazon MGM’s Action Thriller Deadlocked

Sasha Calle is adding another major project to her growing film career, with the actress set to star opposite Jamie Foxx in Deadlocked, an upcoming action thriller from Amazon MGM Studios.

The film is being directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, the filmmaker behind the acclaimed Indian action thriller Kill. Deadlocked will mark Bhat’s move into English-language Hollywood filmmaking, bringing his action-driven style to a high-stakes thriller designed for streaming.

A Trial Turns Into a Hostage Crisis

Deadlocked follows a grieving former Marine who is serving jury duty when an already high-profile court case takes a terrifying turn. What begins as the trial of the century descends into chaos after the defendant’s daughter takes control of the courthouse in an attempt to free her father.

Trapped inside the building, the former Marine is forced to put his past behind him and return to action as the situation develops into a deadly hostage standoff. The premise puts the story firmly in the territory of contained, high-pressure action, with the courthouse becoming the battleground.

Calle’s exact character remains undisclosed, but she has been confirmed for a major role opposite Foxx. Her addition gives the project another prominent name as Amazon MGM continues to build out its cast.

Sasha Calle’s Growing Film Career

Calle has steadily taken on larger roles in recent years. She is known internationally for playing Supergirl in The Flash and most recently appeared in Netflix’s crime thriller The Rip. Her casting in Deadlocked adds another major studio action project to her résumé.

Foxx, meanwhile, is attached not only as the film’s star but also as one of its producers through Foxxhole Productions. The production brings together Range Media Partners, C2 Motion Picture Group and Foxxhole Productions.

The screenplay comes from Eric Scot Anderson and Matt Takejiro Bosack, based on their original story. Fred Berger, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Dave Caplan are producing, while Jamie Foxx is also involved behind the scenes.

What We Know About Deadlocked

While Amazon MGM has yet to reveal a release date, the project is being developed as a streaming feature. Character details beyond the central premise are still being kept largely under wraps, leaving plenty of questions surrounding Calle’s role and how her character will factor into the courthouse siege.

The film has also expanded its cast since Calle joined, with KiKi Layne and Luke Hemsworth subsequently boarding the project.
