Vincent D’Onofrio Says Goodbye to Kingpin as Daredevil: Born Again Heads Toward Its Final Season

There is finally an ending in sight for Wilson Fisk.

Vincent D’Onofrio, who has played the iconic Marvel villain since Netflix’s Daredevil, has publicly reacted to the news that Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again will conclude with its upcoming third season.

Rather than simply commenting on the show’s cancellation, D’Onofrio used the moment to reflect on his long relationship with Fisk — a character he says he will always love.

Vincent D’Onofrio Bids Farewell to Wilson Fisk

Following the news about Born Again ending, D’Onofrio shared an emotional message with fans on social media.

He thanked viewers for sticking with the series and confirmed that Season 3 will be the final season, while teasing that there is still plenty to come before the story reaches its conclusion. He also expressed his affection for Wilson Fisk.

The accompanying image featured Fisk in his recognizable white suit, surrounded by a dark, blood-red atmosphere — an appropriately ominous image for what could be the final chapter of D’Onofrio’s current Daredevil journey.

Daredevil: Born Again Will End With Season 3

The news of the series ending came earlier this week, with reports confirming that Season 3 will be the show’s final season on Disney+.

The third season has already completed filming and is currently in post-production. It is expected to arrive on Disney+ sometime in 2027.

That brings the Born Again story to a surprisingly short run after the revival premiered in 2025.

The series brought back Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, continuing the story established by Netflix’s original Daredevil series.

Kingpin Has Become More Than Just Daredevil’s Villain

D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk has had one of the longest-running villain arcs in the modern Marvel television universe.

The character first appeared in Netflix’s Daredevil, where Fisk was introduced as a powerful criminal figure attempting to reshape Hell’s Kitchen according to his own vision.

D’Onofrio eventually reprised the role in the Disney+ era, including appearances in Hawkeye and Echo before returning as one of the central figures in Daredevil: Born Again.

His version of Kingpin has therefore survived the transition from the Netflix Marvel era into the current MCU continuity.

Season 3 Is Set to Bring Daredevil and Kingpin’s Story to a Close

The ending of Born Again is particularly significant because the entire series has been built around the complicated relationship between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk.

Earlier in 2026, former showrunner Dario Scardapane discussed the inevitable conflict between the two characters, describing their story as ultimately heading toward a confrontation.

Now that Season 3 is confirmed as the final chapter, that conflict has an even greater sense of finality.

Exactly how Marvel intends to conclude it remains unknown.

But Is This Really the End of Kingpin?

Not necessarily.

The announcement concerns Daredevil: Born Again as a television series. It does not automatically mean that Vincent D’Onofrio can never appear as Wilson Fisk again elsewhere in the MCU.

In fact, fan discussion has already turned toward potential future appearances for Kingpin outside the series. Some fans have specifically been campaigning for a future appearance in Spider-Man 5, although there is currently no official confirmation from Marvel that D’Onofrio will appear in that movie.

So D’Onofrio’s farewell should not automatically be interpreted as confirmation that Fisk’s MCU story is permanently over.

What’s Happening Behind the Scenes?

The end of Born Again also comes during a change in its creative leadership.

Dario Scardapane, who played a major role in reshaping the series following its earlier creative overhaul, is leaving after his Marvel contract was not renewed. Reports indicate that he departed while Season 3 was still in post-production.

Season 3 will nevertheless feature a major collection of Marvel characters, with reports indicating appearances from Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio and returning Defenders characters including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

What This Means for Marvel Fans

The end of Daredevil: Born Again doesn’t necessarily mean the end of Daredevil or Kingpin in the MCU.

Instead, it means the specific television story being told through Born Again is approaching its final chapter.

For D’Onofrio, however, the moment carries additional weight. He has played Fisk across multiple Marvel eras, turning the character into one of the MCU’s most recognizable live-action villains.

And his message to fans makes one thing particularly clear:

Vincent D’Onofrio isn’t treating Wilson Fisk like just another role.

He has spent years building this version of Kingpin — from Netflix’s Daredevil to Hawkeye, Echo and Born Again — and Season 3 now gives Marvel an opportunity to bring that story to a definitive conclusion.

Whether Fisk walks away from Born Again for good or eventually turns up somewhere else in the MCU is something Marvel has yet to reveal.

For now, Kingpin still has one final season left.

And if D’Onofrio’s promise of “some very cool stuff” is anything to go by, Hell’s Kitchen isn’t going quietly.
